    Hey guys,

I have a question, In my pursuit to save battery as much as possible on my laptop I normally switch (manually) the refresh rate on the display from 300hz to 60 upon switching to battery power, and this is pretty tedious. So I was wondering if there is a setting within Windows or even a piece of software that would allow me to set it up so that when I switch from ac power to battery power it would automatically switch from 300hz to 60hz and vice versa?

I am not sure if such a program exists. However there is a utility called qres.exe which can be used to change refresh rates. For example, "QRes.exe /r:144".

If you can find a program/script which can detect switch to ac power or battery and run a command, you can use the above command to change refresh rate.

This would be useful for me as well as i want to lower my refresh rate from 144hz to 60hz when on battery also since Windows 10 got rid of the auto brightness feature on laptops which was a dumb idea i would like to set my brightness level automatically to 50% when i unplug my laptop like before instead of doing it manually.

I thought that feature was still there? I'll have to test my laptops for that but I recall my HP DV5 can change the brightness and same with my Dell 1525.

Found the answer on the MS forums after searching around

    https://www.medo64.com/backlightshifter/

The description describes what it does and its sad i have to rely 3rd party software to bring back an feature that was removed for no reason...
