I remember Apple showed off software for its Macbook Air that would allow for another computer to run DVD/CD's and stream it to the Air.

Is this possible for Netbooks? For example, this would be useful if I wanted to install Windows7 or Microsoft Office.

Yes, you can share a dvd drive on another computer with your netbook. I've done it before. I right clicked the dvd drive on the computer with it, then changed some sharing settings, and then found it on the netbook.

Can you verify if it's possible to install files wirelessly?

Yes you can, I have done it over wireless but hardwire is better in case it makes a mistake or misses a packet.
