    hi
i use centrino hardware control to undervolt my cpu. on the battery section of the the program, it says that the wear level of my battery is 5%. This is freaking me out because i've only had the computer for about 2 months and i don't really use the battery that much. It also says that calibration will help but i can't find any programs to calibrate my laptop. so far i'm getting about 3:30 hours on my laptop when it is undervolted and the screen brightness turned all the way down when i'm just word processing. is it the program or is my battery dying on me? BTW, the program lists the battery as sony is this true for the inspiron 6000? thanks

EDIT: Another thing, when the computer is fully charged and i disconnect the power cord, the battery says that it is only 98% full. Also when i'm connected to power, chc says that the battery is 104% full. How come?!

Someone else had this same exact concern a few weeks ago. To calibrate your battery, charge it to full, then let it run completely dry. Charge up again and you'll probably see proper numbers in that report. You may need to do this twice or more.

Agreed. Whenever I get a new laptop, I load up all my stuff, and then I do two or three full discharge/recharge cycles. That calibrates the battery - more accurate.

I also run down my battery and fully recharge it once every two weeks to keep it in shape.

Without even reading any of the thread, I can tell you that yes, your battery is dying.

All batteries start dying from the second they're made. The older they get, the less charge it will hold.

Whenever, I discharge my battery all the way, the wear seems to go up by one percent. Should I just go on anyway? And TriviallyTravis, yes I know batteries start dying from the second they are made. But so do humans and all living things ;).
