I have a copy of Office 07 that I got from the university I was attending (includes: Access, Excel, InfoPath, Outlook, PowerPoint, Publisher, and Word), complete with the product key. I have installed it twice - once when I first got it, and again when I installed 64 bit Home Premium in place of 32 bit Home Premium. I of course had to re-enter the product key the second time.

I had remembered hearing (a long time ago) with Office 03 that you could "only install it a maximum of 3 times with one license (product key)". I'm pretty sure that meant you could only have it installed on 3 computers at once, instead of meaning install it 3 times total. Is there any truth to this? I was always skeptical...

I want to wipe my HDD again and reinstall the OS, so I will have to reinstall Office again (which will be the third time). I am only talking about reinstalling on one computer, not multiple ones. Since I paid for the software and have the product key, I should be able to reinstall it as many times as I want, right?

Also, I can reinstall Vista as many times as I want, right? My laptop came with Home Premium 32 bit and I bought the 64 bit Anytime Upgrade disk and used Orev's guide to reinstall the first time. I can do this over and over, can't I?

If you're reinstalling on the same PC with the same hardware, you can reinstall as many times as you want.

Even if you changed hardware, you can still reinstall as many times as you want.

And yeah, the Office 2007 student license allows you to install on 3 different computers at once.

For different computers, I can't say but I can confirm that on the same computer where you've activated Office at least once, you can reinstall and re-activate it. I've formatted and installed Windows Vista twice, and tried XP once and it always activated.

It's when it detects a different computer where it starts counting the # of times it's activated.

Thanks for the replies. I am only talking about doing a fresh install on the same computer, so I guess I should be fine then. I figured it would be, because I paid for both Vista and Office so I should be able to reinstall them 10 times a day if I wanted to, on the same computer. But thanks for the reassurance.

And the only hardware changes I've made is RAM, and possibly a larger hard drive soon, but not that that matters...

I want to get into doing a fresh reinstall once or twice a year, so I just wanted to make sure I could do it without any issues.
