Friend with a netbook wants to know and how to repair his bootloader using it
-
which version of Windows?

For Windows XP
Boot from the Windows XP CDROM in to the “Recovery” prompt. If you have not set an Administrator password, leave it blank. The Windows XP documentation (Help and Support) has a section on the Recovery Console if you’d like to learn more.
Then run:
Code:bootcfg /rebuild fixboot fixmbr
Boot From Windows Vista DVD then select Repair

or enter recovery console then type these commands
Code:bootrec /fixmbr bootrec /fixboot

Vinumsv, the OP's friend has a netbook, which don't tend to have DVD drives, unfortunately.
I would look into a USB external DVD drive, Waveblade. -
I used this guide to create a USB XP install drive for my Acer Aspire One.
