I'm not aware of any unofficial fixes. I know Microsoft isn't releasing any updates for SP1, so if it's really important you'll have to upgrade to SP2.

Is there any particular reason why you haven't upgraded to SP2?

Yeah, support for Windows XP SP1 ended in October 2006, I wouldn't expect anything for it. Windows XP SP2 support however has been pushed back till 2014, sounds like a good time to update.

So, how do you install your security hotfixes and other important updates?

Regarding the constant BSODs - this sounds like a configuration problem on your end. I have three PCs/notebooks that have been running SP2 since it was released. No blue screens yet.

Personally, the lack of available security fixes for SP1 would make me upgrade ASAP. But, hey - they are your computers.

@Wacky - I'm active duty in FL. Did you go over 20?

Stick it out for the next 2. Luckily my 20 came up right as all the Iraq deployments were hitting Fairchild, and I didn't have to go. My boss wasn't so happy he had to fill my billet though.

Oh, I have no plans on getting out early. I made the decision to go 20 when I went over 10. It's been a great ride, but we'll see if I stay past 20.

Hell, I'm stationed at Tyndall! The only thing that will relocate me is a hurricane! ;)

Let's not get too off topic maybe? I believe military reunion threads are in the OT section.

Anyways, for the time fix, just disable Windows Automatic adjustment and manually change the time yourself. I find that works quite well on old computers

WackyT and Kegobeer, thanks for your service to this country. I have family in the Air Force, also. :notworthy:
