Every time I plug in my flash drive into my laptop, I'm greeted with the beautiful "High speed USB device plugged into a non-high speed port, for best performance blah blah blah" and pops up my list of USB devices and the root hub.
This is annoying. Yes Windows XP, my laptop sucks. Thanks for letting me know. But really, I can handle the low speed considering all I use this for is small files, the largest being several meg access databases.
I want to disable the check or at the least, disable the message. But I can't find and option for it, or any documentation. Unfortunately, google is only yielding me a list of poor souls wondering how to enable USB 2.0 on their computers.
Any and all help appreciated.

Try this. Don't know if will disable USB notification though..

That did close enough to what I wanted. Balloon no longer appears, the list still does but it is minimized to the system tray by default, and only comes up if I click it (it used to come up when I close the balloon).
Thanks very much, I was being too closed minded about the solution!

Great, I like fast solved threads
Keep in mind that this disable ALL notifications, including Windows Updates, Low Disk Space etc... -
All of them are annoying anyway. I know what's going on in my system, those are to help less educated users.
Thanks again.
Is there a tweak to disable checking USB speed in XP?
