My friend has the HP DV6Z from Best Buy, which was a steal with an A8-3510MX at 450, but it came with the 720p screen of course. We were wondering if there's a way to make Windows a little more enjoyable on it? He has the one year accidental warranty on it, so it'd be best to wait for it to expire to install a 1080p screen (so they don't do some stupid voiding thing on him for it). I was thinking, is there a way to downscale Windows? For example, you can turn the scaling up to 125% or 150%, but could you turn it down to 75% or something? All hes currently doing is making all his desktop icons small and hiding the taskbar.

IF IE9 is the primary browser - View- tool bars - status bar - in the bottom right corner custom and it can be set to less than 100%
there is also a registry hack , http://www.techrepublic.com/forum/discussions/102-269119-3190792 I set it to 76 decimal but it only changed the login screen on win 7 home. So I set it back to 120 decimal
