This annoys me enough on the few VMs which I've converted to Windows 10, as I like to get things set up before I go to bed so I can be ready right away for a 6:30 AM conference call the next morning. It would drive me absolutely nuts if it were to happen on my actual PC where I might be losing unsaved data.

First off are you using Home or Pro version? Pro gives you more control when it boots or informs you that you need to restart giving you time to save your work. The problem your describing I have yet to see it using Windows 10x64 pro so I think it is more related to user config and if O&O shutup10 doesn't help then you got more problem then a simple configuration can fix. -
Enterprise, and these VMs have literally nothing other than the single application they're being tested against installed with no configuration changes done whatsoever. It's pretty much as "out of the box" as it gets.
Is there any way to prevent Windows 10 from installing updates and rebooting itself overnight?
