I'm trying to decide on a laptop right now and the listed os on it is just "Windows Vista Home Premium." I've been doing alot of research and I've noticed some other laptops that I'm interested in say "Windows Vista Home Premium-64bit." I guess my questions are.
Does Windows Vista Home Premium run in just 64-bit?
Will my new laptop that I buy be 64-bit ready?

64-bit Vista DVDs have all the features for all of the 64-bit editions (which include Home Premium); when you select which edition you want to install, I think you need a license key for that specific edition.

Windows Vista Home Premium comes in both x86-32 and x64 variants....So you should just check in the System Properties or ask the dealer, which bit is it..!! Normally if the OS is listed without the suffix - x64 or 64-bit, then you can presume it is just 32-bit....
OEMs come with a key specifically for a particular BIT, so you can't install a windows with a different BIT..!!
But if you buy a retail DVD of vista home premium, I think that key can be used for both 32 and 64-bits..(though with vista ultimate you get both the dvds)
It depends upon the hardware, if it is 64-bit ready....
Though only AMDs are able to take full advantage of the 64-bit platform..!!
With intel, you will note a considerable increase in performance, but mainly have the privilege of installing 4GB ram.. (depending upon the chipset and BIOS, if they can take 4GB ram) -
All AMD and INTEL cpus have been 64 bit capable for quite some time now.
Is there such thing as Windows Vista Home Premium made in a 32-bit and 64-bit?
