    that media center doesnt support external usb hdd's

    I have an old 2.5" drive in a USB HDD enclosure. It works fine w/ Win MCE.

    ok i got my 2.5 external to show up.


    Now can anyone help me get my 3.5 wd in an acomdata external usb 2.0 case to show up.

    if a 2.5 works, there's no reason a 3.5" should not...what exactly seems to be the issue? any error messages??

    nope it finds it but it doesnt show up in my computer.

    I think i need to format it or put the proper jumper settings. Its currently configured to master.

    if the hard drive hasn't been formatted yet, format it under device manager (right click my computer -> manage -> disk management). should be plug-n-play after that

    ok thanks for your help, i coulda swore i did that already and didnt see it in disk managment. But it works now.

    glad to help. hehe I did the exact same thing setting up a friend's drive and spent an hour looking for the problem :rolleyes:
