Okay, this seems like a dumb question, but do you need a vista os to run a 8*** series graphics card? I am almost sure that I know the answer but I would like to make sure. I do know vista is needed for dx10 but would just like some clarification. :)

No, an nVidia 8xxx series card can & does function in XP but, without DirectX 10 but also with a large performance increase over Vista.

Nope, not at all. For Dx10 yes, but there are many of us happy 8x00 series cards that run XP. In fact, I bet most prefer to when gaming, at least for now.
