I'm having issues with my hdmi on my laptop, where I'll plug it into my tv and it'll take a few minutes to switch to hdmi audio. Then when the tv is off and then turned back on. The laptop speakers would be enabled and give off a horrible feedback when the screen is closed. Any way I can have the hdmi audio enable right away and get rid of the feedback?

It would help to know what laptop you have and what audio software is installed. First update any audio related software (for instance realtek audio manager). With my rig I have to open this software (or windows sound) and toggle from speakers to digital output by resetting the default device before the sound passes from the laptop to the TV, then I have to toggle back to laptop speakers when TV is off.

It's an acer aspire. Speakers are realtek hd audio, hdmi is ATI hd audio. The feedback only seems to be when the lid is closed and the laptop volume is above 50%. The only way I can reset it is by lifting the lid to basically reset the connection

We will need more then just the name "Acer Aspire" like model number and what O/S your running and what program your using to play video through the HDMI connection. It sounds more like a driver problem but until we know which exact Acer model your is and O/S it will be hard to diagnosis the problem or locate where it is coming from.

Aspire 7551G, Windows 7 home, and it doesn't need a media player to give off the feedback and all my drivers are up to date. It's almost like the screen is causing the feedback with the speakers.

Mute your microphone, see if it makes a difference.

Double check your playback device settings and speaker properties as well via right clicking on the volume/speaker icon in the system tray (you can mute your microphone from there as well, per KLF's suggestion).

The settings and properties were fine but after a confusing driver update; the driver date was 2010 but the version was 7.0, and after I used the update from realteks site, date was 2012 and the version was 6.0; it hasn't happened yet but I'll test it some more

Interesting (although driver malfunction is so common, I guess it's not very interesting). Hopefully you don't get the feedback anymore - otherwise it could be bad speakers or wiring. Keep us updated!
