I just did my updates and MS just included their famous update that insures future updates are available ala SP1.
-
I just got the same update via windows update...Looks like microsoft are laying the ground work for the service pack release.
-
Just got it aswell, along with 350mb of office updates and IE8 lol.
-
It looks like MS has also updated their website for SP2 deployment.
-
crap, gotta uninstall this beta service pack....
-
Just curious, would Microsoft have already released SP2 to PC manufacturers like Dell already? My Dell desktop arrived this morning, but I have yet to unpack it to see what got loaded in... it's no matter on if the SP2 hasn't been loaded already as I'd have Windows Update install it anyway, but it would be nice if it was already.
-
no the sp2 was still escrow as of yesterday it is now rtm..
-
@zfactor - thanks for that info. i figured it wasn't officially out yet.
-
its official as of today i just installed it.. it is 100% the rtm version
-
-
not sure if i can post them
-
-
it just went rtm today it will be a while before it starts hitting the updates. it is available as a stand alone installer now though
-
-
not in the download section yet but if you have msdn you can get it. it will be a while before you can get it integrated in a disc imo. even sp1 took a while for the official ms release of that
its running great. faster and everything is working just as before no issues at all. -

I only have Windows Explorer 8.0 at 15.6MB when i check for updates.
EDIT : I have the Vista update now! "Update for Windows Vista (KB955430)" -
god she is hot....it will not be in everyones updates. they release it out in "waves" and as i said sp2 will most likely still be a while for it to come from the updates.
-
Yeah Tinderbox has the best avy ever.

To housekeep your hard disk and clean up those old and unused SP1 backup files, users probably can try the new Service Pack Cleanup Tool which is also named as compcln.exe. This successor for SP1 cleanup tool, Vsp1cln.exe, can easily remove all the system files (RTM & SP1) inherited from the older versions but replaced by Vista SP2.
Running this compeln.exe tool is pretty simple:
1. Click Start>All Programs>Accessories>Command Prompt or click Start>Run and type cmd to open Command Prompt Windows
2. Execute the command “Compcln.exe”. -

Vista SP2 (standalone & integrated) is released officially to MSDN & Technet.
-
ScuderiaConchiglia NBR Vaio Team Curmudgeon
Yep, I just saw the standalone but only as a DVD iso with all versions on it 64 bit, 32 bit, Sever 2008 etc.
The integrated ones are still with the RC not the final RTM.
Gary
Update: checked Technet and MSDN neither show an integrated Vista and SP2 RTM. -

Now that I'm returning my laptop, I don't have access to Vista anymore for the time being...oh well. -
SP2, Please be quick to get released!!

Well MSDN has been updated again, but this time to get rid of some things. Specifically ALL files containing any remnants of the SP2 RC. All the standalone and integrated versions of SP2 RC are now gone. I am HOPING that means we will see standalone and integrated versions of SP2 RTM. Right now the ONLY SP2 files is the one I mentioned earlier, namely the 1.3 g DVD ISO with ALL versions of SP2. i.e. 64 bit, 32 bit, server 2008 etc.
I'll check again latter.

Well for all of the folks who didn't learn their lesson with vLite and SP2, it's baaaaaaaack.
vLite and SP2 woes
It is EXACTLY the same problem, as the last time. vLite may have removed components that prevetn SP2 from installing.
