I recently aquired a LOT more music than my ipod can hold. How do I delete all the songs off it and then only add one playlist? I know how to just add a playlist, but right now it just trys to add those songs to whats currently on it, and it wont all fit. Thanks

On the left hand side of itunes, click on your ipod -> select all the songs, right-click and click on "Clear" (If it asks to move files to the recycling bin, you did not select your ipod) -> Press the "+" sign in the lower left corner of Itunes and name your new playlist -> select the songs you want from your library then drag them to the new playlist -> drag playlist to ipod.

The best way to do this is download the latest iPod update software from Apple and open it with the iPod plugged in. Choose the Restore option. It will wipe your iPod completely clean. Here's the latest:

You can just go open up My Computer > Right Click on your iPod and then click format, then reload your selected songs from iTunes by making sure the ones you want are checked and the ones you want are unchecked (not sure on this last part, as I haven't had an iPod in a while). Simple as that or do what cashmonee suggested, both work.

When they are all gray, that means the ipod is on automatic. To change this, in itunes click your ipod in the left pane. At the bottom of the itunes window there should be a little ipod button. Click that. Then look through the tabs for the automatic song update thing, and set it to manual.
