    Ok guys, here's the deal, I moved my music to a different partition. So, I thought I could just edit my "Itunes Music Library.xml" folder and replace the old location path with the new location path...

    FYI, I did this when I upgraded from XP to Vista and it worked like a charm. However, when I make the change to the XML file (both with an XML editor and notepad) and when I then open Itunes it returns the pathnames in the XML to the previous location. It didn't happen like this when I upgraded OS's, why is it happening like this now?

    P.S. I know that the changes are actually made because after "saving" the file, I close it, and then open it again and the changes persist.

    Hah, so this is FYI for anyone needing to solve this problem. I went on a whim and backed up my "Itunes Library.itl" and then deleted the original. I then went into Itunes and I chose to import my doctored "Itunes Music Library.xml" file.

    Bada-bing, bada-boom. All my songs are back with rating and all.

    PROBLEM = SOLVED
