Itunes has recently stopped being able to locate any of my music that I have on my external hard drive. It can play the music I have on my main hd fine but not when it comes to the music on my external hd. Anyone know what the problem might be?

Im on vistax64 and have the latest version of itunes.

well first make sure your songs are actually on your hard drive..just in case..
make sure your usb cable is working properly..if all is good..

try this: in the EDIT / Preferences screen which ask, where are you storing your Itunes MYMUSIC files?? Take a look to make sure Itunes is still recognizing that the files are on your hard drive. If you see another location listed for the files, try hitting the restore button which should reestablish the original file locations in case a glitch or something changed the pointer of the location
    hope this helps..

    -Start
    -Control Panel
    -Administrative Tools
    -Under "Storage" click "Disk Management"
-right click on your external harddrive and click change map letter.
-try different letters till it works working from low to high and making sure that you have no other external drives plugged in.
-test songs after each letter change
-when it works, remember the letter.

    you should be good!
