I have over a thousand MP3s from an audiobook that I want to merge together into only a few files. How can I do this?

+1 for Audacity. It is free and it kicks balls.

It's actually pretty straight forward but it's been awhile since I used it...

Just import two mp3 files, select one, copy and paste it onto the end of the other, and repeat.

If you still need specific instructions maybe I'll take the time to reinstall audacity on my new computer. :)

Merging files with Audacity will be a major PITA. Audacity is a great tool, but it is absolutely terrible for this task. Who really wants to import each file one-by-one? Seriously...

You might want to take a look at these:
    http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/MP3-to-iPod-Audio-Book-Converter/ipodaudiobook.html
    http://www.snapfiles.com/reviews/shuangs-audio-joiner/shuaudiojoiner.html

A google search for "join mp3" turns up a lot of stuff. There's quite a number of shareware out there that will do it.

I actually have the full version of that. Audacity is impossible to use to merge 99 tracks together. I'm trying to use one of the shareware merging programs right now. If that doesn't work, I'll try Virtual DJ.

I ve been using Virtual DJ for mixing, DJing & Radio Djing for a long time..

This is how u ll have to go about it: (Damn easy and fun)

Just drag n drop all the songs in Playlist.

Then configure the record settings such as bitrate and location etc.

now click on automix on the playlist menu

    and start recording.

Leave your computer on and go off to sleep...in the morning all your desired Tracks will be mixed into a single file.

Virtual DJ sounds cool, but that process is, let's just say "less than efficient". These are digital files and we're no longer in the cassette world. Any solution that requires real-time re-recording to perform such a simple task is unacceptable.

There's always the Acoustica MP3 Audio Mixer program. I used to make mixtapes for parties with that thing back in the day. it's pretty idiotproof.

    Download Free Trial

    I recommend that.
