    Hi all,
I was just wondering how the Windows 7 upgrade works. I currently have Vista Home Premium 32 bit on my laptop and have a few questions regarding the previous.

If I upgrade Vista to Windows 7, will I lose all my programs like games or Office 2007 and have to re-install? (I can back up my work data, just wondering about programs) Cause I will probably be upgrading my OS while at University and might not have access to all my install discs.

Also, is it possible to upgrade more than one computer? Say my room mate and I decide to split the cost on the Vista->Windows 7 upgrade (assuming we both have Vista or XP) will we be able to upgrade both computers with one purchase? Or will we have to buy 2 copies of the upgrade?

    Thanks in advance chaps :)

Shouldn't need to do a clean install from Vista, so no backing up. You would need to buy 2 copies for your roomate.

You would have to get a special type of install disc to put it on more then 1 computer. thats would be like a business licensed disc or something which caost a boat load of money anyway. Win 7 will be alot cheaper then vista when it released apparently so it shouldnt be to bad.

You can do an in-place upgrade, so all your programs and files will still be there. However, note that if you want to go from Vista 32-bit to Windows 7 64-bit, you will need to do a clean install.

No, each upgrade only comes with one key, and that key can only be used on one computer at a time.

But, if you've been playing with any of the Win7 beta leaks, you will have to scrub to bare metal when installing the Real Thing. No in-place upgrades from beta/RC leaks to Gold.
