    Just bought HP dv6810us laptop, help please

    I just bought this laptop and want to remove all the trial software that comes with it, and just have a clean windows vista system, also dont want any unesasary HP software. I have an antivirus software, already removed norton trial software. I dont want AOL, please let me know what I can safely remove and have a clean envirenment to install all the softwAre that I want on it.

    Just boot from the windows CD,format the HDD and install the windows.

    I would except new laptops with vista does not come with a back-up disk. Go figure.

    Then it should be inside your hdd.. called a recovery partition.
    I've no idea of how to go on... Wish to know as well since i m getting the hp in the coming few weeks.

    I don't have an HP, but believe there is a partition on your drive which you can copy to a CD and then cleanly reinstall Windows. There should be instructions in a manual, or possibly a guide built into your system. There probably are instructions for this somewhere on the HP site, as well.

    Should you decide that this method isn't for you, Decrapifier can help. It'll go a long way toward cleaning your new machine.

    thanks for your advice guys. Its a great laptop, 3gigs of ddr 667 ram, 160 gig hdd, nvidia graphics card with 1024 memory, AMD athlon 64xl x 2, 15" screen, more than enough for me. Also light scribe. Now to find the time to customize it to my personal preferances. I am an RT, work 60 to 70 hours a week. Will be nice to bring my pc to work with me and be mobile.
