    Just downgraded my inspiron 1520 to xp... have a few problems.

    1. Right click the task bar. Click properties. Click customize. Find the battery gauge. Click ''always show''.
    2. Do the same thing except you set those icons to always hide.

    Maybe the guy applied a vista makeover pack to make xp look lk vista?

    the xp i obtained came from a friend and the skin came with it i dunno how to unapply it :(
    is there a thirdparty software i could get? maybe a driver?

    gui, blue screen in the back Windows Setup in grey, then you selected options.

    Go buy a copy of xp and then come back. Sounds like you don't own a license in my opinion.

    Customer's Documents? What is going on with this copy of XP? It's evidently some seriously tweaked version.

    Buy an XP CD, just the cd($10-40) & come back after using that copy.
