I just found a really awesome free (yes, there is a free version) skinning tool called WindowsBlinds. I have a really great looking Nvidia theme on my laptop. It looks wonderful. Anyone else used this program? I'm probably the last person on the Earth to know about it. []
If I wasn't the last person, go check it out. They have a lot of great looking themes/skins for Windows, really makes it more appealing to use. It really shows off my screen. []

Windowblinds is only completely free with the nVidia one. The other skins must have the full program to use. The free full one will work but has an annoying nag screen that pops up. http://www.stardock.com/products/windowblinds/ you can then go a lot more skins and other items at http://www.wincustomize.com

I used to use it, but I think it slowed my start up time significantly, so I stopped using it. It is a neat program though. Enjoy.

does windowblinds really take a significant hit on performance?
is there any other ways to skin your vista/xp without add on programs =\ -
I had the paid one like 4 years ago, stopped useing because I thought why run junk, I'm lean and mean now. But yea it was fun!

WindowsBlinds replaces/mods system files, which overtime may or may not cause your OS to become unstable. There is also an Alienware type theme(which can be downloaded free) which is based on WindowsBlinds, but is a cut down version. From personal experience, I had WindowsBlinds on my Sony Vaio laptop, after a few months, I started noticing slow boot times, and errors in Windows(not sure if they were caused by the modded system files or not). There is also a free program called Vista Inspirat, by CrystalXP, which mimics Windows Vista. So if you have xp, but would like to see what vista looks like, I'd say try the software. I'd also highly suggest, before installing anything that replaces/mods system files, to create a restore point. This will prevent any/most inconviences(in my case, a reformat).

I use Windows Blinds 5.5 on my XP system. Never had a problem with it, I forget it's in use most the time.
I recommend manually making a system restore point before installing. -

*bump*
i rly wanna know if this will screw up my computer if i use it... -
Yes it can cause problems because it messes with system files, I said can not will, like many others I noticed slow boots and strange behavior, I was using 98 at the time. Some people turn on their computer and just use not paying too much attention they might not notice but I pay way too much attention I could not stand.

windows blind is great for only average users. I've tested it before and if you're a gamer, you wouldn't want it since it drains away your video card's resource. FPS drops will reflect as a result. As a matter of fact, if you want to optmize for gaming experience the best "theme" to use in XP is "classical". The theory is simple: Compromise eye candy for performance gains.
Just found a neat tool called WindowsBlinds
