so far, I am having no lag or loading problems on my XP SP3 laptop. However, there were two incidents wherein I had to log in again to all of my oft-visited webpages. Apparently the auto-login status was "forgotten" the moment I turned my laptop off on those 2 occasions. The cookies were still there, by the way, as well as the form data. I usually use the 'remember me' function as I am the only one who uses the machine, plus, I don't have the luxury of time to retpye and re-login everyday.
Can anyone tell me the cause of this? I made sure this IE 8 installation was as clean as possible (reset previous IE state to factory settings, removed all add-ons, ran CCleaner, etc). This wasn't a problem with IE7, which I used before this.

This looks like a wellknown problem in here. I think it is something about creating a "Low" folder somewhere in your profile.

you are asking about the home page which you set as a default .
your home page should be changed so you are not logged in into the internet explorer.
if i am correct follow the path.
go to the tools menu >internet options>general>type the address of the url in the url space . click oka nd apply.
close the explorer.
again start the explorer. you will get the home page which you want. -

I'm asking why ie8 randomly forgets my logged-in state. For instance, I am automatically remembered in Notebook Review, but there are occasional instances where I have to retype my username and password. While other websites do that every once in a while, this happens to all the websites and forums I am in. It is as if IE8 clears my cookies, without my knowing. -
I'll give it a try.
Just installed IE8 and...
