    Hello,

Just installed Vista Home Premium x64.
It does seem more stable, and have installed all the drivers that I need.

I have a few questions though please:

    1) Firefox/Minefield, I cannot get the Adobe Flash Plugin to install or the Windows Media Player plugin.

    2) Internet Explorer (x64) VS Firefox (x86) - Does IE give a performace increase/should I be using that?

    3) Software that claims to be (x64) - should I be installing it into Program Files or Program Files (x86). It automatically selects the Program Files (x86) though.

    Think that's all! =)

    Thanks!
    Stephen

    1) i use the 32bit firefox, have the adobe and windows media player plug ins.
2)not really? it's probably .5 seconds faster, but i still use FF x86.
3)if it automatically goes to x86 that means it is really 32 bit software that is capable of running on 64 bit.

    Hope this helps. :)

yeah flash player doesn't work with x64 browsers yet. Fine by me, I use Minefield, and it's kind of nice not having all those crap flash ads and everythin load. If I really want to see something I fire up IE.

    1. I use the 32bit Firefox, everything works great.
    2. It probably does work better with the OS since it isn't being emulated, but unless you don't use a lot of extensions stick with Firefox.
    3. Windows does a great job of controlling where things should go.

Vista x64 is great. I was expecting some things to be harder, but everything has gone smoothly. I am very impressed with it.

^^ I too was very impressed by how easy it is to upgrade; assuming your applications work of course. But, this is more a matter of planning than Vista's fault.

I am surprised that Microsoft didn't make Vista 64-bit only; or at least marketed 64-bit a little more.

    1) n 2) - might want to give FF3RC1 a shot, in its pure form, as stated in post #5 (onlycopunk)
    3) - leave it to vista to manage them. Verify the "claim", if not just install them in 32bits mode

agreeing with many 64bits users are there, that m$ is getting better in the 64bits arena, now that vista 64bits is out. I personally have been doing some re-testing my linux environment against vista64bits

    cheers ...

1 & 2: It took me awhile to find out that there was no flash plugin for x64. But yeah even with a fresh install of x64 Vista the icon in the taskbar for IE was for the 32bit one. I manually had changed it to the x64 one and now I see why it was like that.

x64 browser is kinda pointless right now.

I use FF for most everything but there is occasion here and there where IE works better (my wiki at work, and sometimes for downloading files).

3: Its just a folder, it doesnt matter, if your highly organized or uptight about things being where they should, you may want to manually install x64 stuff into the right directory.
