    Hello,
I just updated from an Acer Laptop with Windows XP to a HP DV6775us with windows Vista.

When I played any time of media file (avi, wmv, etc) with my Acer, they looked great, high quality.

Now when I try to play movies on my new HP every movie looks washed out, grainy (some are really blocky also).

I have no idea how to fix this. I've tried multiple players, Windows Player 11, VLC, WinAmp. It looks the same no matter what program I view them with.

Anyone know what is causing this/ how to fix this?

    Thanks in advance.

I'm no expert but here's a guess: try updating your graphics card driver. Playing a movie uses the GPU, regardless of the player.
