I've been searching for media players and I'm trying to figure out which is better ; KM or VLC.

I saw this post on a forum (comodo.com or something like that..) anyways I just wanted to ask a question :

    * If KM and VLC players run the same file, it will be equal right? Like the quality will be the same in both of the players?
    * If VLC uses more RAM (see below), does that mean it's better? (or worse? since it would be running the same quality..)

I'm a VLC user and I'm thinking of getting a KM player. Any experiences on VLC/KM players? Good/Bad? Which is better?

Thanks for taking your time to read this

I just tested both, and I kinda still like VLC player. I guess I'm used to it. I also like how it has bigger play/pause, fast forward, and sound controls. Obviously, I voted for VLC Player.

I use VLC because it natively supports DVD .ISO files. Not clear if KM does, their forum says VCD .ISO support, but nothing about DVD .ISO support.

I much prefer KMPlayer over VLC. I've tried VLC many times in the past (since it is open source, which I like) but could never convince myself to stick with it. The dated interface, higher resource usage, and weak color reproduction (probably can be changed, haven't tried) are all factors which have kept me away from VLC.

For the best perceived video quality, almost any DirectShow media player with madVR.

I prefer KMP, only because it has a nicer interface. Haven't seen any noticeable differences in the playback quality between the two. That said, I think it's largely just a personal preference, try out KMP and see which one you like better.

Also I believe they stopped developing KMP, so in the long run it may not be worth the effort of switching to it.

Nah, there's still development. A new Korean version was released this May, only a matter of time until it's ported to English.
