Hi, I just moved and got DSL set up.

I was getting around 600kbps at my old house, and I was getting around 750-800 at the new place after playing around with the RWIN. But just for kicks I disabled kerio firewall and my speeds are now around 1300.

is this normal? i can't imagine it being so. at the old house, even without norton internet security (firewall i used back then), 600 was the best i could get and there was no big difference in the speed either way. i just might have to use another firewall, although kerio seems to be working fine.

i found the answer elsewhere but thought i'd post it here for reference.

i'm using version 4. what i did was go into the "Web" module, right below "Intrusions" and unclicked "Enable Web Filtering".

    Presto, back to normal speeds.

But if you are not filtering the web, whats the point in having a firewall?

web filtering with kerio is for things like blocking ads, popups, activex, javascript. i don't need a firewall to do that.

as far as checking, i checked several times with 'web filtering' on and off and i'm certain that was the issue. maybe it could be the way my network is setup and how everything works together makes it so that makes a difference.
