    Hello,

I have a ASUS G73JH and it worked perfectly for the past 3 years. It recently started bugging certain keyboard buttons however, and not all of them but some very specific ones. (I am using the On-screen keyboard as I am typing this).

W, Esc, F1, F2, 2 ... The problem started a little while ago and I would get past it at times by violently pressing the buttons and moving them around. Now however that does not work anymore. It has been around 2 days since they completely stopped functioning (only been able to press "w" once today that's all). I don't really know what to do, I am a student and cannot afford another laptop or anything big and I really need to be able to write essays etc.

I do have all the latest drivers installed. I never dropped the laptop. I never spilled anything on the laptop. I would occasionally shake it in my laptop bag. I am using Windows 7 64. i7, 6 GB Ram, graphic card is Radeon HD 5870.

Please, if you can, do help me with either some tips or advice, I really wneed to get this fixed!

Thank you all immensely in advance

How about a temporary fix by plugging in a USB keyboard?

Did you test it outside Windows? For examples the BIOS or a Linux LiveCD/USB?
Sounds like a hardware issue to me though, normally when the problem is in the OS the keyboard would ether work or not. Did you disconnect/connect the keyboard recently?

Hey, thanks for the replies everyone.

I might buy a new keyboard and attach it via USB as a last resort. Of course it would defy all purpose of a laptop but it is much better and the cheapest alternative, and damn I didn't even think about that!

Also nope I only have Windows on my laptop nothing else. I don't know it always worked just fine but I am assuming it might be the connection plastic which, considering that its usually diagonal, might explain why these exact buttons aren't working.

I looked up a guide on Youtube on how to open up your laptop and clean the keyboard from inside but I am certainly and absolutely not a professional in computer hardware and I am afraid I might do something and completely mess it us, Laptops are delicate things ...
