The drivers are universal. Ultimate allows you to change the language through windows update but you get an english DVD and install it, using your current product key. The only problem you could encounter with the drivers is that if there is a software/control panel, you might not be able to get the text because of the unicode (like, english control on korean windows).

thanks for your reply. So now i can buy the laptop in seoul, upgrade to ultimate( the laptop i will buy go with Vista Home Basic,so i will buy the key to upgrade)
and change the language to English and all the display language will be English like a English Vista version right?

one more question,if i want to format and install a fresh Vista (maybe some Vista install disk from somewhere ) can i use the product key of my original Korean vista to register, type it when i install the new fresh Vista?

which way do u think is better ? Upgrade to ultimate and change the display language (don't know if it will be like the English version) or format reinstall the English version and register with the key of the original Korean Vista of the laptop?

Best place to offline is to go to Yongsan electronics market. There must be hundreds of small stores and stalls that sell laptops.

Many vendors can install (replace) Korean OS with English one if requested.

Some manufacturers (e.g. www.dell.co.kr) offer English OS on their website. At least they did when I bought M1330 from them last year.

Could you tell us what model you are looking for? Danawa is a good place to check for the prices and to see what is out there.

Um, how about and Apple? It comes with "all" languages from the beginning.

==>yeah i know that but i'mnot sure about the quality of them.My friend go and check but she doesnt know which one is the best store,reliable,...can you show me some? Where they get the laptop? from the manufacture? the laptop still go with warranty ? and about the price from these stores? some told me that it would be lit bit higher than from the online site.

I tend to buy the laptop through the website like gmarket, interpark,,,but if i do i can't not ask for English Vista right? so the only way to get Vista English version is go to Yongsan, choose laptop and ask them install the English one.

Apple is fine, i tend to buy some like IBM,HP,Fujitsu,Toshiba,Sony,Asus. About the keyboard, all of them with the Korean characters with the English?
i dont think its big deal anyway.

can u show me where i can get English OS in dell?i in purchase page of 1510 vostro but can't find it. Those brands provide English version like Dell.co.kr?

Thanks 4 ur reply ,really really appreciate

The asking prices in Yongsan might be a bit higher, but you should be able to get a discount if you pay in cash and ask for a discount. If they are not willing to give you one, just walk away and look for another store. And do not accept the first price they give you! Before you go, check the model you are looking for in danawa.co.kr so that you know the real value of the system.

I'm not sure about those Internet shopping malls and whether they can give you English windows or not. Probably not. But as for Dell, you can "customize" (사양 선택 ;) the laptop of your choice.

Vostro 1510 and other models as well can be bought with XP or Vista in both Korean and English. Sorry but I can't link directly on the page. After you click "Customize" look for "영문" ("English writings/characters") from the list of operating systems. (If it mentions "한글" OS is in Korean and keyboard has English and Korean alphabets.) Below is clip from Vostro 1510's customization page.

영문정품?Windows Vista(R) Home Basic 32비트 OS용 미디어 DVD 키트

    Vista Basic Label
    Vista Dell Welcome
    Internal Dell(TM) 84 Keys Keyboard ( English)
    Vista Guide
    QFE 정보 모드
    Product Information Guide

Quite self explanatory, eh? Anyway, Dell Korea has English speaking staff at their service. If you have any questions or difficulties, why don't you give them a ring?
