I need some help.
I used the ISO method, created a bootable USB, used the program to delete the "ei.cfg" file and proceeded to install. Unless I missed something, I do not remember seeing a choice of which type of windows I want to install. I wasnt paying attention and now I see that I installed home premium and my key is for professional so I was unable to use my key. So now I need to re-install the OS...so where exactly is the choice to change it to pro instead of home premium?
Sorry if this is a stupid question.

Why wouldn't you just download the Professional ISO? -
So, I just created my ISO, but I'm a little concerned that something isn't quite right with it because while I was running the command to build the ISO it displayed the same number of files, but a different number of directories when compared to the screenshot in the walkthrough.

Is this something worth worrying about? -

Why don't you just download the ISO file directly from the links in this thread & save yourself the time & hassle? -
Yeah do the iso method. I ran a trial of 7 Ultimate doing this prior to purchasing 7 Pro. I used the same disk and did a clean install on the old Vista converting it to 7 home premium. It works every time.
-
And wow, I'm an idiot. I made an x86 ISO when I needed 64 bit . . . -
hyrule4927: Use the ISO's with SP1 integrated, in my sig.

I used the iso of Windows 7 supplied on digital river. Installation was quick and easy; 100+ updates on my first shut down to install SP1.
Download the iso with SP1 integrated. It'll save you plenty of time. -
Yep. It takes many update installs & reboots before SP1 even shows up as an available update, and then there are a bunch of updates that need installing after SP1.
Much, much faster to start out with SP1 from the get-go. -

I know this has been asked before, but I can't find it by searching. What is the best extractor to get my serial key? I need to extract it so I can re-install windows.

I am buying a laptop but it is only 32 bit windows, could I reinstall windows using the links of this site and get 64-bit windows instead? if I do that can I use the same key?
-
Yes, that will work with no issues.
-
You can change between 32- and 64-bit.
You can change language version.
You can't change edition, ie between Home Premium and Ultimate. -
Thaks you two

Can u Refer me to the Vista download link please i cant find it and i really need it badly....thanks bro
-
yo,
i luv u bro,
really needed a good win7 download!!
this still works, however.
keep it up! -
Ok, I tried to read as much as I can before posting, so please bear with me.
1. The links in OP (the 3 file method in particular), is it with SP1?
2. Say I have the home premium edition 64 bits preinstalled, I can install any version (professional, ultimate), but I can only "activate" the home premium edition 64 or 32 bits, right? I can't upgrade window 7 to a better edition. Can someone confirm whehther I understand this correctly? -
I seriously question the legality of this, as these downloads are only intended for those that purchase a license directly from Microsoft at the Microsoft Store. I don't care what kind of a spin you put on it, that you can use your own key, etc. I'm really surprised the MS lawyers haven't come down on NBR for this. But enough of raining on your parade. Enjoy your free downloads.

I heard they fixed the downloads with SP1 in them so the rearm feature is not there anymore.

My point is that if Microsoft lawyers were to come down on NBR, they would have to come down on most of these other sites as well.
Unless setting an example of one site. -
Hello guys. I need your help.
I have VAIO VNG-TT190N with Windows Vista preinstalled. I made clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium 32 bit. Made install of all drivers from sony web site. my problems:
1) I have 64 mb dedicated video memory in vide adapter options (on vista was 128 mb)
2) I have processor 3.9 score in Windows experience rating (on vista was 4.1)
I have U9300 1.2 Ghz processor, 3 Gb Ram.
Maybe I need to try another version of Windows 7? -
Vista = 1 - 5.9
Seven = 1 - 7.9 -

hello, im downloading the w7 ultimate x64 with sp1 iso from digital river (ill remove the ei.cfg later), and im kinda confused, are those OEM w7 versions? or the retail version works same with ABR key?? also , do i have to use the ABR key (extracted from w7 home premium x64) on the same version (hp again) or i can use it with other w7 version (want to use it on w7 ultimate)??
-
I downloaded the iso version of windows 7, removed the ei.cg file using the program recommended and got a conformation that the ei.cg has been removed, i also used the recommended program from microsoft to boot from the usb drive but I can still only install windows 7 pro and not home premium... Am I doing something wrong? Also after doing a clean install for an HP envy 14 do I overwrite the swsetup folder in the newly installed win 7 with the one I backed up?

I can't find my country Philippines the time and currency format. What should I do?
EDIT: Never mind , Ignorance made me ask sorry -

Pardon my confusion but if I download the Windows 7 with SP1 ISO from the link above and then burn the image to a DVD using ImgBurn, do I need to do anything further to make the dvd a bootable disc? At this point can I just place the dvd into my drive and turn on the computer? I'm obviously pretty new at this so forgive me if the answer to this question is an obvious one.

hey guys, I did a clean install using OP's 64bit version. I managed to grab my OEM key which was shown in the system information window but I wasn't aware that I needed a serial key also. I learnt this the hard when the thing prompted me in the end of installation asking for a damn serial key. Now I'm stuck with an unregistered machine and it's telling me that I have 3 days to activate windows. Any help on this is deeply appreciated cuz I'm down on my pell grant therefore cannot afford to buy new OS keys right now.
Just to clarify I have the OEM thing but not the serial key. If there's a program out there which can convert the OEM key into a valid serial key please do share. -

The key on the bottom of your laptop is the one you want.
If you can't get it working you can attempt a rearm with the link I post.
You can also contact Microsoft for help.

Burned it to a DVD
Booted from DVD perfect
Entered my COA on bottom of my laptop
Windows 7 installed without a hitch
Promptly threw away the recovery disks -

-
