The disk was created properly, he stated it worked as it should on his laptop but not on his desktop.
His original issues with creating a Windows 7 install disk have been resolved and he has in his possession a bootable, working, Windows 7 install disk. Original problem resolved. He needs to create a new thread about what is the problem with his desktop. It is not the disk.

I don't know if this was answered already, but can I use my HP OEM Windows 7 Key with these? I want to clean install Windows 7 using my OEM key, but I can't seem to get it to work. Is there a way to do this using the OEM key?
-
The version you are installing has to match the key (home premium, pro, etc.). I think the same key works for either 32 or 64 bit.

if you guys are having activation problems, you can use this:
http://rongchaua.net/blog/windows-7-activation-backup-and-restore/
to backup your OEM activation key/cert (but you have to back it up before you reinstall) -
I am using Vista ultimate OEM of dell. If i upgrade to windows 7 ultimate do i need to buy license again? And one more thing , If i install windows 7 (64 Bit) then do i need to install drivers and softwares for 64 bits or i can use mine 32 bits drivers and softwares? what about dell media direct which come to me in 32bit :-s
-
no offence but they are both silly questions... yes of course you have to buy it and yes you can use 32bit apps but not the drivers.
-
Is it even worth it installing 64bit with 2 gb ram?
-
Probably not but why not grab another 2GB stick and have the best of both worlds?
-
At the same time, there is no significant performance decrease going 2GB x64 to 2GB x86. -
I would say that if everything you have is compatible, then definitely go with x64 - there's nothing to lose
-
(Actually you may see some very slight faster speeds if you do alot of cpu intensive work such as archiving files/rendering etc) seeing as with 4gb the difference is not that huge, 2gb will be even less -
I can't download this file http://sharebee.com/2932d4f4 in step 6
-
Here is the file for the time being:
EDit: The file download on sharebee.com is working, just select one of the download links to download the file, i.e. RapidShare.
Earlier when I tried it after reading your post, sharebee.com wanted me to take a 10 minute survey before it would let me try and download the file. When I tried to cancel out, it threw me into an advertising blitz that I couldn't get out of without closing down IE. It appears to be working now but I will leave my attached file for the time being.
Edit 2: Removed attached file as OP says sharebee.com links are working again. -
I'll upload it to a more reputable multiuploader soon -
hi, it's not clearly mentioned or maybe i just couldn't find it but this solution can't be run from an XP laptop?

I'm in the same situation where I have performed a clean install on my new Sony Vaio notebook, which came preloaded with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit. I downloaded the digital river ISO copy of Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and tried to use my OE product keys at the bottom of my notebook, but windows is now saying the the product key is not valid. I spent hours performing this clean install and would be grateful if this process works. Please advise.
Thank you. -

When I click the link to download the .ISO I get disconnected from the internet and windows network assistant gives me the "local only" message. Anyone know how to fix this problem?
-
Try to download something from somewhere else and see what happens.
Although when you get a 'local only' message usually your Internet Security software is blocking you for some reason. Try turning off your antivirus/Internet Security software and see if you have the same issue. If you can now download correctly, check your IS software settings. -
downloads are running at fine speeds as of 10:00 PM EST
-
^^ Yep, as you said. Speeds are back to normal.
-
Yes your suggestion helped. Am now on Win7 64bit using this forums files.
Thanks. -

I downloaded X15-65804.iso (Windows 7 Professional) from Digital River and get this MD5 checksum for the downloaded file: d8f675aaeb48057452666b0cd686d7f5
Just posting in case someone finds it useful.
Download speed was a brisk 650 KB/s on AT&T Elite internet. -
A couple of final thoughts. You never did mention what OS you are currently running. I would clean up your temporary internet files and cookies as a start. If you are using I.E., Tools, Internet options, delete temporary files, cookies, history, etc.
If it still doesn't work after that, I would try to reset the winsock. I am really drawing straws here, it can't do any harm, but the method to reset depends on what OS you are running. A corrupted winsock can cause any number of strange problems.
If you are planning on installing windows 7 on the PC you are experiencing this problem on, even though finding the problem would be nice, you may just want to download the ISO on another PC and install on the troubled PC and call it a day. -
I need a final confirmation that this will indeed work as it has been tossed around with mixed results:
Currently have: Thinkpad T500 with Windows Vista 32Bit
Will purchase the upgrade disc from Lenovo, which will be a 32Bit version of Win 7 (apparently, that's the only option from what I've read).
I will, instead, download windows 7 64Bit from this site.
Install Win 7 64bit using the license key that came with my 32bit win7 lenovo upgrade disc.
Clean install.
WILL THIS WORK?
thank you=] -
-
^Thanks for the quick reply!
I will go ahead and do a clean install, while removing the 2 extra Lenovo partitions (they seem pretty useless to me).
And will input the serial key when my upgrade disc comes from lenovo. -
After all the hassle to download the ISO, which I ended up downloading on a friends net, the guide worked flawlessly and using the OEM program my activation was reactivated without a hitch. Thanks again!

I was able to successfully receive a new activation code from Microsoft using the phone activation process.
Thanks for your help everyone. -

quick question: is it possible to install and activate a 32-bit version, then uninstall it and install/re-activate a 64-bit version with the same key?
I know that it is possible to install both versions under the same key, but I'm a bit worried about the activation process... -
I am definitely doing a clean re-install.
I used the iso method. wondering what that exe has done to the iso. ONLY removed the limitation?
