I am running windows 7 on an HP that I got some time ago. (been nearly two years). Its got 2 gigs of ram, dual core 2.16 ghz processor and 100 gigs of hdd space.

Recently it has started lagging in a particularly strange manner. When I type it will randomly freeze and then everything I entered will appear nearly at once. I've tried defragging, cleaning out temp internet files, and even checkin the registry for useless files.

The problem has persisted. I was connected to the internet at school last night and the connection was slow and laggy itself.. but, I have never had internet lag affect me when I am typing in word or other programs.

Does anyone have any idea what may be causing this? I have never had an issue like this before that wasn't fairly easy to resolve. My computer didn't feel particularly hot.. (i've played fear or oblivion and its acted as a small heater before) but, I've never had an issue with heat related lag.

I haven't altered my system in anyway that I know of which would affect it this drastically..

you're welcome, let me know the outcome....

    1) download all the updates.
    2) download the Windows 7 Update Pack Tool v1.3.1.0
    3) Place the update tool in the folder where the updates exist, then run it.

It willl then install all the updates in one shot :)
