Hmmm...... I have been looking for Mandarin teaching software (Italian too, though it isn't too hard to learn) for quite a time....I remember there's another software called Pimslur or something like that but it's nearly as expensive as Rosetta Stone. If anyone can help out with the Mandarin, it would be really appreciated.

Very nice link. Thanks! The top ranking one is not as expensive as Rosetta Stone and includes all levels!!! Too bad it doesn't have mandarin yet. I'll check out the second place at home as I can't do it here. Thanks a lot!

i don't think much can compare to Rosetta Stone, once you use it you will understand, if you really want to learn Rosetta Stone is where it's at, worth the money.

especially if your girlfriend is Japanese and she knows more english than I know Japanese ^_^ i have to take the lead!

I just go to the local library, there's lots of materials for foreign languages including Italian and Mandarin. Though most of it isn't pure software, I find those audio cds are pretty useful too for learning a language. There's even software at like local book stores like Coles or McNally Robinson, even though they're bookstores, they sell software

I am italian; I have been living in the US for 7 years now.
I don't know of any software, but I can point you to this site Garzanti Linguistica that has a great Italian-English/English-Italian dictionary. And it is free to consult online! I have also the CD and paper version but those are for pay.

Well, the reason why I'm looking for a software is mostly because information about foreign languages is very scarse on where I live except for English which pretty much half of the world already speaks. I want to get Mandarin over with as it's supposed to be the new English for the coming years and I don't want to get caught off-guard (and I also want to earn more $$). I may try Rosetta Stone but I'm looking for a less costly software as I want to round up all the other languages I know and let's just say that if I buy all of them from Rosetta, I may end up sending someone to college.
