What interests me, are those only software and not any use if the drive is wiped? Intel being there makes me think a hardware part also, so anyone know?

I heard about LoJack but that's it.
Not many people these days go with an Anti-Theft.

Beware that the LoJack software is not affiliated with LoJack the car recovery system. The company mearly licensed the name from them. This is not to say that it does or doesn't work.

If you want an effective anti-theft solution, make sure your notebook has Computrace.

+1. These are all post-loss recovery or wipe tools. They do nothing to prevent actual loss of the machine.
