Seagate FDE and Intel AT technologies
Symantec and Intel® Anti-Theft Technology
LoJack for Laptops anti theft software and LoJack SCI Supply Chain Integrity solutions extend LoJack's premiere tracking and recovery offerings
I've read about LoJack, but not the other two or how reliable these programs are. Anyone have any experience with it?

What interests me, are those only software and not any use if the drive is wiped? Intel being there makes me think a hardware part also, so anyone know?
-
I heard about LoJack but that's it.

Beware that the LoJack software is not affiliated with LoJack the car recovery system. The company mearly licensed the name from them. This is not to say that it does or doesn't work.

If you want an effective anti-theft solution, make sure your notebook has Computrace.

Prey is not as sophisticated as these commercial solutions, but it is free:
