I am trying to find a "laptop friendly" way to backup and restore files along with a whole system restore. Last year I bought a copy of Acronis True Image (2011) and It worked for my Desktop machine just fine. How ever when I tried the copy on my laptop it lowered my total battery life, It installs about 3 services and causes my cpu % to be at a constant 10-15%, I tried a few other free options such as marcium reflect and paragon and when I went to restore the image they both refused to work

Long story short, Does anyone have a suggestion on a nice laptop friendly backup and restore app that works? I don't mind shelling out cash on something that is worth it

    Thanks!

    Backup and Restore

It's built into Windows, can be configured to backup just your files, create a system image (using VHD as the container) or both. Backups are scheduled to run through the Task Scheduler. Of course, as part of the standard Windows feature-set, it's free and ready to go!

I think you have the ongoing backup service running. Disable it, use the backup program when you need it, and it you should be fine. I have it (came with a external drive) and I had the settings for continual for a while, then just used it to incrimental save. Now I just use the Win7 backup. Easy, no real hassle.
