hi,
I have a laptop that's about three years, but pretty good at Pentium M (Centrino) 2.0 GHz, 1GB DDR2700 Ram, 60GB 7200 RPM HDD, ATi Mobility Radeon 9700 PRO 128-bit, 128MB VRAM.
The only problem is that the laptop was soo beaten up from usage that the screen detached from the base!! So I tried connecting external monitor to VGA output, and it works, but it shows up as extended desktop, meaning I can't view like view like icons or anything. It has XP installed. Is there any way or software i can install somehow to force detect the External Monitor?
Thanks,
SW

Please dont cross post(posting the same thing across multiple forums). Help will find you where ever you post.
Have you tried using the FN+F8(crt/lcd button) to switch which monitor the desktop is displayed on?
Also what is model/manufacture of your laptop? -
Oops sorry! yeah I have tried that! it's a custom built one from iBuyPower.com. The barebone system was Aopen 1551 G or something like that.
Thanks! -
