I have been reading that some folks are having problems on laptops with the SP2 Beta on eMachines laptops containing the Athlon 64.

I was wondering if anyone had installed the beta SP2 onto a desktop Athlon 64 and, if so, were there any problems with it once installed. Most of the problems related to laptops are dealing with laptop programs (battery control, etc).

    Thanks.

There are a lot of issues with the beta in general. We've installed it on a number of desktops and found it requires a number of tweaks to function properly. I'd strongly advise waiting for the release candidate before trying it out.

Release Canidate 2 for Service Pack 2 is already out.

But, I'd still be hesitant to install it.

From what y'all are saying, and from what I have heard from friends, this service pack might be delayed longer if Microsoft cannot get their butts in gear.

I will definitely hesitate to put this on my frontline systems. I don't need the added security that bad.
