I just reformatted and installed Vista Ultimate x86. Whenever I shutdown my lappy via the start menu or press the power to do so, vista appears to be shutting down as the open windows close, but then my screen goes black and the power light, wlan, and bluetooth lights remain on. Those indicate the laptop is still running and to completely turn it off I have to hard-shut it by pressing and holding the power button.
I have a ASUS Lmaborghini VX2S for reference.

Have you applied SP1 yet? If not, do so.

Also, if you have AHCI enabled then (re)install the latest Intel matrix storage driver.

Is your start menu button or power button set to sleep/hibernate when pressed?

It might be set to sleep by default.

The start button is set to shutdown.
Also, just a side question, does anyone notice that you cannot put your notebook to sleep without nVidia drivers installed. ie- the basic windows video display driver wont allow it. or is this just me?

Probably not since we all have video drivers installed. Drivers need to be able to put the hardware to sleep/hibernate state. Without the supported drivers then it cant do it

I've updated the Intel Matrix Storage Drivers and even updated the bios to their latest versions. Now I get a completely black screen, no blinking white cursor.
Also, I believe the issue is stemming from the fact that when I send in my Lappy they crack the case at the LAN port, so, I sent it back and when they fixed the crack they switched out the Motherboard. Now, bear in mind they only changed the Motherboard, probably to a new revision, and kept all the other components that were present in the laptop. HDD and all included.
Please, someone help. << Its annoying.
