Hi, my problem is simple, my laptop cannot suspend to ram or disk. The screen just turns blank but all the lights stay on, the machine is completely unresponsive and you have to press the power button to shut it down. It can sleep and hibernate fine on Linux though so I do not think it's a hardware problem. It would randomly wake itself up from sleep before but now it cannot even get to the sleep state. Any pointers to a possible solution?

Go into control panel and open, go under hardware and sound. Open power options and you'll find the sleep and hibernate options you can set. Is this a Dell or ?

Ayle, have U tried clearing the hiber. file? How to disable and re-enable hibernation on a computer that is running Windows this may fix the hibernate issue.
Do you have any USB devices attached when you try to sleep or Hibernate? If so try disconnecting B4 sleep or hibernate.
There are also a few suggestions here
Windows 7 will not enter sleep mode or hibernate
Lastly if all of above do not help, how old is your Window installation? It may be time for a reload
Laptop cannot sleep nor hibernate
