Hey guys/gals, my other laptop crashed I guess. I was on the internet and it went to a black screen with text (you know when you start your computer and its black with the bar flashing). It said something like media failure and it couldn't find the OS (operating system). I don't know what the cuddly bunnies is the problem is but I would like it if someone could help! I tried restarting the computer but it just went to a black screen with the cursor being the only thing that was displayed.

Granting your hard drive still works and uncorrupted, you could always remove it and slap it in a external hard drive enclosure and access the contents via USB thru another pc. :)

You could always try just to make sure that's the problem. It wouldn't hurt you to have an external enclosure anyways...I recommend the Vantec Nexstar SX, available from Newegg.com. :)

Good. I recommend you back up your info, maybe reformat and reinstall your OS, clean the dust out of that thing, make sure you have good anti-virus software, check out this thread, and take care of that sucker! :D

Could be the GPU overheating. Mine went blank but the lights were still on.

Somebody somewhere once posted a link to a nice free utility to check your HDD's status.

    CrystalDisk Info (se google)

I'll tell you the shape your HDD is in.

I don't think the Acer 5610z has a graphics card. I tried playing halo 1 and it was all just a horrible idea :D. There was so much screen tare and I had to shrink the screen in order for it to be playable. I was pretty much playing on a psp by the time the game was at 20 fps lololol :D
