I have a vaio cr with windows 7 and for some reason lately whenever I put my computer to sleep by closing the lid over night, the next morning I open it and it resumes from hibernate mode. In power options, I put hibernate to never so it shouldn't be hibernating at all unless I press the power button.
I just checked the event log and it seems like the computer wakes up exactly 6 hours after I put it to sleep....weird

Maybe battery life?
Maybe closing the lid = hibernate?
I know you changed the power settings, but look in Advanced and maybe there's a hibernate timer? -
There IS a hibernate timer setting under advanced. It sets Windows to hibernate after the computer has been sleeping for a certain amount of time, like overnight.

Thank you very much for the clarification! I just upgraded from Windows Vista and would close the lid and put my laptop into sleep mode before bed and the following morning I'd notice it was in hibernation as well and couldn't figure out why it was doing that.
Thanks again! -
That's what we are here for. Geeks with nothing better to do than dig through our vast knowledge of dialog boxes

I guess it wakes up windows then goes into hibernation? Very nice, then theres basically no reason not just to use sleep instead of shutdown ^^

Yeah, it wakes it up. You can wake up your laptop using Task scheduler, like for backups, then it makes it go back to sleep.
Handy dandy huh?
Laptop goes from sleep to hibernate by itself
