    Hi,
I'm a computer novice, so I'll try to keep it simple.
Whether I leave my laptop open or close the lid,, when the time comes for the laptop to sleep, it seems to shut down. Maybe it's hibernating ...but no matter what key I press to wake it, I go to what looks like a start-up process:
Flashing text, Lenovo logo, more text stuff, password, desktop, and if I start chrome I also get the "Chome didn't shut down normally, do you want to restore your pages?" -if I click 'yes', it will give me those pages.
I've been through the normal power options to set display off and "sleep" times ...the times seem adjustable, but the result is the same.

I found a link to an update, but I get a message saying that I'm up to date
I have disabled the hibernate mode using the command: "powercfg.exe /hibernate off", but that hasn't made a difference.

Also: battery charging hovers around 50% and I never get more than an hour's charge.

    IMPORTANT:
My situation is a little strange. I had a Lenovo P400 Touch, but the touch pad and power cord started acting wonky. I literally had to have a rubberband around the laptop and cord in order for it to charge. I took it apart and found a broken power socket, crazy glued it in place, but started having other issues. Then I found another one on ebay without an operating system, so I bought it, put my old hard drive in and (for the most part) it works.

Any ideas? Or should I just buy another laptop...?

To rule-out software issues, please re-install your OS as moving your HDD over to a different unit does not always yield perfect results.
Let us know if the issue persists after you have re-install the OS.
There is a very helpful re-install guide within this forum posted by Phoenix, you should check it out.
