    Hi there....
sry for my english if i dont explain too clearly

Well Ive bought a Acer Aspire 5570 a few months ago
I was frustrated about the gaming compatibility, so I was thinking of installing XP.

I was kinda worried about the risk taken if I install XP unsuccessfully, so I wanted to try my VISTA system backup disc which i burnt when i got my laptop.. (BURNT THE BACKUP DISC WITH THE DEFAULT ACER BACKUP PROGRAM WHICH CAME WITH THE LAPTOP)

Turned off my comp, put in the disc, loaded and i chose not to do the backup, ok good.
Then I turned it off again. This time I put the VISTA UPGRADE disc which it came with the laptop bundle.

Then it loaded for a while, nothing happens, and it loaded back to the usual Vista login screen. I logged in and realized the comp performance was slower than usual. For now i dont know what to do with this... Its not because of the drivers for sure, cuz video clips and music files run normally.
    I Appreciate any help. Thanks.

    Laptop Information:
Acer Aspire 5570 (i dont know if its Z or not, cuz the sticker only says 5570-4315)
    Intel Core duo processor T2450
    1Gb ram
    Intel Graphics 950
    160GB GDD

When you first received your machine, did you tweak it at all? Delete unneeded apps, stop unnecessary processes, etc, etc? If so, and you basically installed a fresh system (you didn't mention the version of Vista used), you may have to re-tweak to regain the lost performance.

You logged in? No setup or anything? It sounds like not a complete re-install, but it probably repaired the installation or something bogus. Just back up your files and re-install after wiping the HD.

what does it mean by tweak?
oh yeah and my os is Vista Home Premium 32-bit

This is what i did today:
1, Turned off laptop and inserted the backup disc that's created by the default Acer backup program. Booted the backup disc and a Acer window popped out. Chose "Cancel" because I didnt want to backup yet.
2, After doing that, I booted the "Vista Upgrade Disc". Nothing special happens. It just booted my Vista os normally as usual.
3, After logging in, I realized the performance became slower than usual.

*Extra info: As i said, i booted my comp with a backup disc (the first thing i did). After that, i checked my music library and found out the song list returned to what it was when i created the backup disc....

No, you need to back up all your personal stuff and actually reinstall after wiping the partition.

    oh...
does that mean i have to format the HD and install vista again?
but the prob is i dunno if that "Vista Upgrade Disc" is the Vista installation disc...
and also, i no nothing about reformatting and reinstalling...

could u provide me a guide or a link that teaches me to do that?
    Thanks so much!

If you are asking if you can do a full install of Vista with an Vista upgrade disk, the answer is yes it is possible. However, only with the SAME license you had purchased initially.
