My dv9700t running Vista Home Premium...

My battery just died and the PC went into sleep mode... i plugged in the ac plug and turned it on. It gets stuck on the HP logo screen and wont boot. It i hit Esc, it gives some PC specs, trys to boot, then says OS not found. The HDD is making some odd sounds also. Not super loud, just weird. Please! I need help on how to fix this. In BIOS, Notebook HDD is first in the boot order. F11 wont work to get into recovery and i have no recov disks with my PC. What do i do?

First, just calm down and breathe slowly... in, out, in, out. Lol, just don't want you to feel too panicky, I'm sure that every laptop owner has experienced something like this at one point or another. And in your case, your problem probably isn't as big as it looks.

OK, so it seems like your battery died while your PC was in sleep mode? All this means is that your RAM still has the sleep mode data still stored in it, but b/c you didn't wake your PC up properly, you won't be able to retrieve it back. So whatever you were doing when your PC went into sleep mode is probably lost, but at least you can get your PC back up and running again. All you have to do is disconnect the AC adapter and remove the battery from your laptop (consult your manual if you don't know how to do the second part). Leave your PC that way for 5-10 minutes. What this does is pretty much removes all forms of power from your RAM (like a RAM reset button for lack of a better phrase). Then plug everything back in and try booting up again. Your HP should work properly now.

EDIT: Oh and I'd recommend you put everything back to the way it was before in your BIOS.

Ok, That didn't work. But I did call HP and they tried to have me run some tests, they didn't work. They deemed my HDD broken and are sending me a free replacement by Tuesday. Thanks for your help of cooling down, LOL. Still, I lose all data.

That doesn't make sense to me....there has to be a way of getting the computer back to a normal running state without changing the HDD.

I'm sure u can try resetting the CMOS/BIOS or something...idk but it sounds odd to me..i'm sure something can be done but i'm just not sure what.

Or i would advise to remove all sources of power....such as battery, ac, usb devices, etc. and press the power button for at least 20 seconds....
this shud drain all of the power that maybe left inside the laptop....and wud reset the bios as well
The HDD should be working if it is detected by the BIOS
    Good Luck.. :)

This is what i was trying to remember...what to do to reset the BIOS...either take out the CMOS Batt. in the computer itself or that holding of the power button for 20~ secs procedure.

I say give that a try!

What, it didn't work?! Hmmm, that's odd, I would've sworn that would fix your problem.... Geez though, I don't think that you have to replace your hard drive over it, I still think that it's a much smaller problem than what it appears to be...

If your hearing a funny noise from your hard drive (light clicking noise) then I think it has probably failed.. mine failed 3 months ago and I think it also said "No OS was found".

though if your hard drive light isn't blinking at all then it could be another problem, something like this happend to me last month, but it wasn't the hard drive. All I did was took out the battery and used the AC Power connector only.. and my system finally started running again. It was a relief.. cuz i thought my hard drive failed again..
