Restrained UAC in Windows 7.
Looks a lot like Vista still.
LOTS OF SCREENS.

It looks like a Vista knock-off
-
Yeah. MS should sue them. LOL...

To be honest, it looks like an uglier version of Vista.
-
Well... I wouldn't say its Ugly... but its so-so... *cosi cosi, as they say in Italian

Looks pretty good. They should apply the Ribbon to everything.

Yeah actually looks good and agree on applying the Ribbon across all applications to which it may apply.
-
It's going to look like Vista for a while still.. they won't start updating the UI more until the backend is pretty much done.
-
Lol, I love how when you open a new tab in IE 7, big letters are there to greet you:
You've opend a new tab
This was literally my face when I read it:

.Vista 7....Oooops, I mean Windows 7 can't be any worse than .Vista! I'm sure most of .Vista's issues would be sorted out for that refresh of 7. It's gonna be a lucky 7 next year w/ Intel's i7 and Windows 7.
Can't wait....
PS: I hope it's somewhat lighter on resources than Vista. -

It's what the Vista alphas should have been.

This looks awfully like Vista. It was like if:
- Windows XP + New interface = Vista
- Vista + New Shell = Windows 7. -

LOL. This is EXACTLY what I was thinking too. Man, MS does a great job making everybody feel stupid with things like that. YOU OPENED A NEW TAB!!11 CONGRATULATIONS!!!!11Last edited by a moderator: May 8, 2015

Probably by the time they release it finally, you might even see, "You opened a new tab. Congratulations. AND you just won the best M$ faithful customer award"...

knock off of vista to run on min specs with almost open source
your better off running linux than buying that 300-500 pos -
MS IS SO STUPID. **** I AM REALLY STARTING TO HATE MS.
If they were smart they would have fixed XP up as good as they could to make it more reliable. And added better features to XP.
I HATE VISTA. Only computer experts that have a ton of experience with it know how to use it. I hate vista and will never use it as a primary OS
-
Vista is really not that bad, especially after service pack 1.
But dear god... that looks terrible. Just release a service pack for Vista; that looks like what Windows 7 would do. -
The thing is-they tried at first. However they piled on so many features and additions to the XP code that things quickly spiraled out of control from a stability standpoint.
That's what the "great code reset" was for. They started anew on top of Windows Server 2003 and unfortunately lost most of the cool features that we were promised based on earlier builds, and got further behind development wise.. -
Is it just me or is designing an OS that looks like Vista a bad idea???
-
We gotta remember that the preliminary UI is only temporary...Vista's UI changed multiple times before it was finalized:

Agreed, those preliminary Windows 7 pics will look nothing like the final product. All MS is doing is using Vista assets for W7 screenshots.
-
While we are at it, I was browsing through that winsupersite and came across this

Was this already known about this for you guys? And anyone waiting for this to be released? As in, any of the experts think this will be a nice update? Thanks.
And the release date is supposedly sometime around October 1 or so... is this true?
The author there linked to this post in response to a Q about whether windows will release any update (major) for vista after SP1 and before Windows 7... -
Can't wait for the new windows to arrive. I'll look forward to all the topics titled "windows 7 vs vista" and "i'll never change vista, windows 7 to unstable" or all the debates about how bad it is, and slowness etc etc.
Back to the original post, it does look an awful lot like vista but it is still developing, me for one will look forward to it, i like it when new things come out. Something new to play with lol. -
I knew about this from his podcast along with stuff from engadget. Unfortunately, Fiji won't be a standalone update for everyone, it'll be installed on new systems only, kinda like the OSR releases of Win 95... http://www.engadget.com/2008/08/06/engadget-hd-gets-a-first-hand-look-at-the-vista-tv-pack-aka-fij/
Also, at least when they posted that, it appeared that DirectTV support among other things were dropped or delayed... -
Hmmmm... thanks for the info
