I have been learning from a lot of photoshop places and my highest recommendation goes to tutvid. He also teaches the basics of a number of other adobe products including Illustrator, Fireworks, Flash and Dreamweaver.

http://www.tutvid.com for his website but you can watch his videos on youtube at http://www.youtube.com/user/tutvid?ob=1.

Thank him mate, I owe him a lot!

No offense guys, but those are all amateur solutions - which is okay if you want to go that way. But you won't really learn the good stuff.

There are 4 ways to get Professional instruction on Photoshop:

    1. Become a NAPP Member (National Association of Photoshop Professionals) - in addition to a 15% discount on Adobe programs and a lot of other things PS related, NAPP is also supporting Lightroom.

When joining, aside from the print and digital versions of Photoshop Magazine every month, you have access to Kelby Training tutorials, and access to NAPP staff members who are longtime Photoshop users and include many of the world's top PS experts. Go to this link: http://tinyurl.com/82zvn

Here are some of the categories for tutorials on the NAPP site:

    Type|SpecialEffects|Photography|Retouching|Restoration|Correction|Design|Selections|Layer Effects|Actions|Illustration|Compositing|Finishing Touches|Web|Inspiration|CS4

Each category has more tutorials than you can count on PS. And yes, I'm a NAPP member. Annual membership is $99, which is a steal.

    2. Lynda.com - Best training site on the 'net for anything Adobe, and just about anything else. Adobe video tutorials are done by longtime Adobe Instructors who are experts in the programs they're teaching, of course.

    3. Kelby Training - NAPP's primary educational sponsor.

    4. For the best free tutorials and information, you can also access tutorials and other information from the Photoshop site at Adobe: http://tinyurl.com/25a33x

The PS Developer's area has good stuff too. Just go to Adobe and click on Communities, then move around the menu to the PS communities.

I didn't mean to offend anyone, it's just that there are good tutorials, and then there are GOOD tutorials. Of course it all depends on what you want to get out of Photoshop, but usually those who have the work and the money to spend on a program like Photoshop usually want the best they can get.

I'm not a master at Photoshop, but I'm proficient. Just read the help documents that come with your Photoshop installation.
