    This site gives you all the info you need to download Windows 8.1 with Update and create installation media.


    Create installation media for Windows 8.1 - Windows Help

    Some info:

    - Each ISO contains only one edition.

    - No key is needed for downloading.

    - The Install file is in ESD format, not WIM.




    Windows 7 with Service Pack 1 is available here.

    If people who bought OEM Windows 8 PC's at launch and needed clean install media, they would've gotten it through "other" channels long ago instead of waiting 2 years. At launch, Windows 7 had direct download links to official ISO's from MS via Digital River. What happened with Windows 8?

    There were simply no links available through digital river like for previous versions of Windows.

    I'm not 100% sure, I'd have to look it up again, but IIRC it was due to MS deciding to host the Windows 8 iso files on Azure servers or something similar.

    Where to legally get a valid key without buying another copy of Windows? OEM key embedded in the BIOS doesn't work, assuming you even find it in the first place. Most people never get there.

    Please note that this tool downloads the file without asking for a key on Windows 7 machines if you select the ISO option. I haven't checked any other options. Pretty quick too.
