The RC is out next month and expires in 2010. It has improvements over the now old beta. You should wait.

Aside from the RC, the Windows 7 Beta download from Microsoft reached its download "limit", and they removed it. So, you can only download it a torrent sites now. Which is obviously not legal... :p

Just wait a little bit for the RC

Think about getting Virualization software if you have a decent computer so you can run Vista/XP/7/Linux at the same time as Vista/XP/7/Linux... and even more than 2 if you can handle the resources for them :]

So if you split everything evenly with a 2GB system for example youll have 1GB for each operating systems... processor and graphics are usually split dynamically between both!

You can run multiple Operating Systems at once (asides Mac OSX if your a pc...) Its really really cool

Best thing is, I think there are Free Virtualization programs out there because of so many Windows Servers etc...

Yeah, virtulization is pretty cool. But its pretty hard to run more than 2. Even my T9300/4GB RAM can only handle 2, without the host and virtuals becoming a little sluggish.

...and who said you cant run OSX in a VPC? :p :D

T9300/4GB of ram can only handle 2? What kind of Virtualization software are you using. I've ran 5-7 virtual machines (1Vista, 4XP, 1 Ubuntu, sometimes more XP acting as servers) at a time with vmware workstation on a AMD phenom x4 9550/4gigs of ram. And I haven't notice any lag yet.

    Phenom X4 = quad-core. T9300 = dual-core. A very nice dual-core, sure, but still, half the number of cores.

I'm not limited by the processor. The 4gig of ram is the problem. CPU ussage is usually around 5-10% sometimes spikes to 100% when doing processor intensive tasks in VM. So a dualcore should be just as fast under normal conditions.

That's why i'm asking him what VM software is he using. Some VM can't dynamically allocate ram thus wasting a lot of ram thus causing a system wide slowdown.

Honestly whatever you guys say about the Beta and "Free" keys etc... that do work, I dont care...

Just wait for the RC it will go on until 2010, not July '09 like the Beta right now.

if they continue to let the os expire even more and more late, you could use the last win7 beta/rtm or what ever to run till the first win8beta, and then switch.. haha. free os for ever :)

most of us have legal vista licensees, so they have a "free os for ever" anyways... :) (yep, i prefer vista by far over win7).

    btw, your sig is awesome.

Microsoft is still giving out beta keys (even though they are the same 10). So you can obtain your legal "key" and "license" there.

And I think Microsoft is well aware of the versions floating on torrent sites and doesn't seem to mind while its the beta versions.
