I'm trying to capture a video of my desktop, similar to how FRAPS would capture game play. Does anyone know of a legit freeware piece of software to do this?

EDIT: I found a few utilities that were eval versions, but none would record above 15fps. I need 24-30fps...

If you have an OEM DVD player/recorder like Cyberlink or Nero, you can use that. I used PowerDVD to capture a shot of one movie. Then I doctored it up in GIMP. Works great!

I've got Sonic MyDVD...but I'm talking about if I wanted to do something like capture a video of my mouse moving around the screen.

I would just use my camera, but I'm picking up on the LCD refreshing and it is a little annoying.

You could always use Andrew's technique of camcorder/tripod/microphone :D.
