The two that never work that bother me is itunes and office. Its really bothering me when I go to click on it and it simply doesnt work. its been like this since I can remember so a system restore is out of the picture. *** is wrong with this crap. The links also never work in the quick launch but my desktop links work fine. Whats up guys. PLEASE NO, this is why vista sucks comments, they don't help anything, we all know it sucks.

Just delete the bad links and drag the icon from your Desktop to the places where it doesn't work.

Yea... Basically you just delete the icon on quicklaunch, then drag the desktop icons into quicklaunch bar.

A copy will be made in your quicklaunch bar.

If you still have trouble, feed us some screenshots of the icon properties.

CCleaner can erase the recently used programs list so that it resets, that may be what you want to do for that. The list will start over new.

Personally, I pin everything to the start menu and use small icons, I don't use the recent programs and I rarely ever need to click all programs. Very efficient.

Ccleaner or Decrapifier might be killing the paths to the programs when cleaning

Try out Object Dock or Rocket Dock for Mac style desktop. You will never need to use the start menu to access programs ;)

well, how can we fix it. I dont want things on my computer that simply don't work right. I might go to a rocket dock but I want to fix it first.

I had this occurring to me recently. Some of the programs in the recent programs list didn't work. If I searched for them, they didn't work. If I looked through the programs list and selected them there hey did. I reset the list but that didn't help.

The solution was to do with programs I had recently installed. These were KDiff and WinMerge (installed in that order). Both installed entries in the menu of all folders. Uninstalling both, WinMerge followed by KDiff, fixed the problem. I assume that one of them did something wrong in extending the menu and this broke the recently used programs. It was fixed after removing KDiff, so it may have only been KDiff or it may have been the combination. I haven't retried either program (I will the next time I need to do a file diff) to see which it is.

Sounds like Bill G strikes again.... Re install your laptop and quite using these "cleaner" programs. They are all crap they make assumptions about you usage and "clean" files.

after the reinstall download Kubuntu and install it (you will be dual booting Linux) after a few weeks you will say good bye to Vista.

    i'd go with this option.

there is nothing wrong with vista. vista is a very stable OS, so u xp-fanboys needa go back to sleep. this is user fault.
